Carefully Read Your Charts

Carefully Read Over Your Charts
When you are new to an area or are planning a trip to a new area, carefully read over your charts.  There may be some interesting surprises.
For instance: on NOAA Chart 18421 Strait of Juan de Fuca to Strait of Georgia there are two islands – both named “James Island”.  One of these is just east of Decatur Is. in Rosario Strait (in the United States).

The other is between Vancouver Is. and Sidney Is. in Canada.

So, be careful to carefully look at your chart for incongruities like these.  The viewing may save you embarrassment later.

Sail Around The Lake 2015

Here are some photos that I took on our Sail Around The Lake - the seventh annual flotilla - - July 29 thru August 2.  Nine boats participated this year - making the flotilla the most successful ever.
Here are the boats at Whiskey Rock on July 29

Nearly full moon at Sandpoint on July 30
